Services for Chris E. Ruwe, 87, of Fremont were held Tuesday, March 26, 1996, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont. Rev. Donald Levenhagen and Rev. David Loeschen officiated. Burial was held in the Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery at Fontanelle. He died March 22 at Memorial Hospital of Dodge County in Fremont.

Chris E. Ruwe was born on the family farm north of Fontanelle, Neb., on Sept. 11, 1908, to William and Fredericka “Gosker” Ruwe. He received his education at Hooper and took courses at Fremont Normal College.

He farmed the same farm he was born on all his working years.

On Feb. 22, 1932, he was married at Hastings, Neb., to Helen Taylor. She preceded him in death in May 1977.

On June 17, 1978 he married Dorothy Ladd Bradbury at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hooper. They lived in Hooper until moving to Fremont in 1985.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Golden ‘K’ Kiwanis club of Fremont.

He was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; a daughter Joyce (Mrs. Darrell) Wagner of Craig; two sons and daughters-in-law David and Sheri Ruwe of Hooper and William and Di Ruwe of Correctionville, Iowa; step-son and daughter-in-law Robert and Marjorie Bradbury of Hooper; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church and Trinity Lutheran School.

Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont was in charge of arrangements.
