Services were Saturday, February 11, at Salem Lutheran Church in Fontanelle for Howard J. Ruwe, 88, who died early February 9, 1984, at Memorial Hospital of Dodge County in Fremont.

The Rev. C. Vander Stoep officiated. Burial was in the Salem Lutheran Cemetery.

Howard J. Ruwe was born March 25, 1895, in Washington County on the family farm where he grew up.

He married Adeline Rabe on March 3, 1922. Following their marriage, they farmed in Washington County until moving into Fremont in 1956.

He was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church of Fontanelle. He had been on the Board of Directors of the Nickerson Farmers Union, the School Board of District 37 and the Salem Lutheran Church Council.

He is survived by his wife, Adeline; and three sons, Donald Ruwe of Oakland, Richard Ruwe of Thousand Oaks, California and Raymond Ruwe of Fremont. Ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Clara Shaffer of Dodge, Mrs. Prentiss (Emma) Anderson of Hemet, California, and Delphine Wagner of Fremont; and one brother, Obert Ruwe of Mesa Arizona, also survive him.

Ludvigsen Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
