Leland E. Ruwe, 84, of rural Herman died Friday, October 29, 1987, at Memorial Hospital of Dodge County, in Fremont.

He was born January 22, 1903, near Telbasta, and he was presently living on the same farm near Herman where he moved with his family when he was five years old.

He attended the New England School west of Herman, and then attended the former Fremont Normal College, now Midland Lutheran College.

In addition to farming and cattle feeding, he was a partner in the Scribner Implement Company for several years.

He was a recipient of the Omaha Stockyards 50-Year Patron award. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church of Fontanelle, and the Salem Lutheran Church Men. He had been a Sunday School teacher for many years.

He is survived by nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 3, 1987, at the Salem Lutheran Church of Fontanelle. Rev. C. Vander Stoep will officiate. Burial will be in the Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

Ludvigsen Mortuary of Fremont handled the arrangements.

Leland Ruwe was born in near Telbasta, on January 22, 1903.

He was called Home to his greater glory on October 30, 1987.

Leland received his education in a rural school near Herman, Ne. He also attended the New England School. He attended the Fremont Normal College, in Fremont, Ne.

Leland lived his entire life on the ‘home place’, and in his own words, “I’m happy right here”. He farmed his entire life, and, for a few years, he was a partner in the Scribner, Ne. Implement Company.

Leland was confirmed into the Lutheran faith at the St. John Lutheran Church of Vacoma. He received his instructions in the German language, but repeated the same instruction in the English language. Leland was well versed in the Holy Scriptures.

He later became a member of the Salem Lutheran Church of Fontanelle. He was active in the Congregation. He taught Sunday School for a number of years and wa an active member of the Lutheran Church Men, until the last few years.
