John Schultz, 78, Died Here Sunday

John W. Schultz, a well-known resident of Kennard and Washington area, died at the Blair Memorial Community Hospital Sunday, August 27th. He had been a resident of Washington County for 78 years.

John William Schultz was born June 17, 1883 at Washington, Nebraska. He grew to manhood in that area and followed farming as his life’s work.

He was married to Miss Emma Brock in 1908; she died in 1939.

After his marriage he spent several years farming in the vicinity of Orchard and Scribner, Nebraska. He spent three years, 1943 to 1945, living in California.

Survivors include sons: William G. of Douglas, Wyoming and Robert A. of San Marcas, Calif., and two daughters, Mrs. Esther E. Jones and Mrs. Adylen C. O’Brien, both of Omaha; five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild; one sister, Mrs. Henry (Cary) Utermann, of Kennard, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at the Bendorf Funeral Home Tuesday, August 29th with the Committal service at the German Cemetery. Rev. Frank Nielsen officiated. Pall bearers were Walter Plugge, Walter Rosenbaum, John Johnson and Nic Friedrichsen of Kennard and Albert Plugge and Howard Jensen of Arlington.

Services 2pm Tuesday at Bendorf Funeral Home, Blair. Interment, German Cemetery.
