Oscar V. Peterson

Funeral services for Oscar V. Peterson, 92, of Butte were held at 10:30, Monday, May 11, 1987, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Spencer.

Rev. Al Sieck officiated.

The hymn, “My Faith Looks Up To Thee,” was sung by Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church Choir and the hymn “How Great Thou Art” was sung by the Congregation accompanied by Nola Hagberg.

Casketbearers included Donald Johanson, Eugene Martinson, Allen Koskan, Jim Reiman, Gary Sedlacek and Elmer Holm.

Internment was in the Butte Cemetery, under the direction of the Jones-Thenhaus Funeral Home.

Petersen was born in Washington County at Fletcher on December 14, 1894.

He died at the Niobrara Valley Hospital on May 7, 1987, at the age of 92 years, 5 months, 24 days.

When he was ten years old he moved with his parents to a farm two and a half miles east of Anoka.

On June 24, 1931, he was married to Zelma Lewis.

They lived on the same farm until they retired to Butte in 1967.

He was a member of the Augustana Lutheran Church in Anoka and then transferred to Baker Messiah Lutheran Church. He then joined Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Spencer.

Survivors include his wife, Zelma, his brother-in-law, Glen Lewis, and several nieces and many friends.
