Services for 62 year old John Rodney Peterson were on Wednesday afternoon, July 3, at 2 p.m. Mr. Peterson was taken to the Fremont Hospital Friday afternoon and passed away Sunday morning from a heart ailment.

Mr. Peterson was a retired United States Postal employee and had been working at the Reckmeyer Funeral Home and Hardware Store in Arlington.

Services were at the Arlington Community Church with Rev. Bryce Hecht officiating and Reckmeyer Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Arlington Cemetery.

Peterson was born April 3, 1912, in Arlington and lived in the community all his life. He was an Army veteran of World War II and attended Midland College and the University of Nebraska. A postal clerk, Peterson was acting postmaster at Arlington for several years. He was past master of Hiram Masonic Lodge No. 52, A.F.&A.M., past worthy patron of Serepta Chapter No, 58, Order of Eastern Star and was a member of Arlington Community Church. He also was a member of Arlington VFW Post No, 8332 and Arlington Legion Post No. 71.

Peterson retired from the Postal Service in 1972 after years of service. He married Martha Heuerman Feb. 11, 1939, at Glenwood, Iowa.

Survivors include his widow; and son, Ronald (Ronnie), Omaha.

Memorials have been established for the heart fund or Arlington Community Church.
