Betty B. McElderry, 85 of Blair died Tuesday, March 18, 1997 at Crowell Memorial Home.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Crowell Memorial Home in Blair.

McElderry was born April 22, 1911 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Geroge and Cleora (Baer) Smith. On June 3, 1931 in Lancaster, Mo., she married Frank McElderry. She received a degree in music from Parsons College and the University of Iowa. She taught for several years, retiring in 1972. She lived in Ottumwa from 1911-41; in St. Paul, Minn. from 1941-43; Des Moines, Iowa from 1943-52; Bowie, MD from 1957-72; Horseshoe Bend, Ark, 1973-83; St. Petersburg, Fla., 1983-92 and Omaha from 1992-95.

Survivors are her husband, Frank of Blair; a daughter, Nancy McCormick of Omaha; sons, Jon of Farwell, Nebr. and Walter of Ely, Minn.; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Donald and a brother, Kenneth Smith.

Memorials may be given to Crowell Memorial Home.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
