Services were Saturday, Aug. 31, 1996 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, north of Arlington for David E. Dunklau, 61 of Arlington who died Aug. 28, 1996 at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha. Rev. Michael L. Rogers officiated. Burial was in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery.

David E. Dunklau was born July 7, 1935 at Arlington. He grew up in the Arlington area and was a 1953 graduate of Fremont High School.

He served in the Nebraska Air National Guard from 1953 to 1959. He lived at rural Arlington, where he was a dairy farmer. He moved into Arlington in 1992. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Laymen’s League and served on St. Paul’s Lutheran Church finance board. He was a member of the Washington County Feeders, served on the Fremont Farmers Union Board for nine years and was a member of the Arlington Public School Board for eight years.

He married Judy Luenenburg April 5, 1959 at First Lutheran Church in Fremont.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Lenora Hilgenkamp Dunklau.

He is survived by his wife, Judy; a son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Carol Dunklau of Scribner, Neb.; a daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Jim Hubbard of Dakota City, Neb.; brothers and sisters-in-law, LeRoy and Donna Dunklau and Dyral and Illene Dunklau, all of Arlington; a sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and Ron Hilgenkamp of Arlington; two grandchildren, Maggie Hubbard and Beth Hubbard and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Gary Timm, Glenn Greenfield, Bill Garry, Roger Hubbard, Darrell Hilgenkamp and Larry Graver.

Memorials may be directed to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or St. Paul’s School.

Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington was in charge of arrangements.

David Emil Dunklau, the son of Emil and Lenora (Hilgenkamp) Dunkau, was born on July 7, 1935 at Arlington, Nebraska. He grew up in the Arlington area and graduated from Fremont High School in 1953. He served in the Nebraska Air National Guard from 1953 to 1959. He married Judy Luenenburg on April 5, 1959 at the First Lutheran Church in Fremont, NE. He lived at rural Arlington and was a dairy farmer. He moved into Arlington in 1992. David was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, north of Arlington, and a member of the Lutheran Laymens League and served on St. Paul’s Finance Board; he was a member of the Washington County Feeders; and served on the Fremont Farmers Union Board for 9 years and also served on the Arlington Public School Board for 8 years.

David passed from this life on Wednesday, August 28, 1996, at Immanuel Medical Center at Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 61 years, 1 month and 21 days.

He is survived by his wife, Judy; son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Carol Dunklau of Scribner, NE; daughter and son-in –law, Jane and Jim Hubbard of Dakota City, NE; brothers and sisters-in-law, LeRoy and Donna Dunklau and Dyral and Illene Dunklau, all of Arlington; sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and Ron Hilgenkamp of Arlington; 2 granddaughters, Maggie and Beth Hubbard; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
