Services for Fritz Jahnel Held Saturday

Fritz Jahnel passed away at McBride Nursing Home May 25th at the age of 89 years and 5 months. He was born in Omaha to Frank and Bertha Jahnel on Dec. 25, 1877. At the age of one year he moved with his parents to a farm south of Blair and resided in that community until 1946 when he moved into Blair.

On January 6, 1904 he was united in marriage to Mary Schmidt at Fort Calhoun, Nebraska. To this union six children were born. One son died in infancy.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; four sons, Harry of Oakland, Nebraska, Walter of Tekamah, and Ray and Robert of Blair; and one daughter, Mrs. Walter (Hazel) Christiansen of Kennard, Nebr. also 6 grandchildren; one brother, Chris Jahnel of Blair; 3 sisters, Mrs. Lena Anderson of Bruce, Wisconsin, Mrs. Elsie Dornacker and Mrs. Rose Matthiesen, both of Blair.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church with Rev. Keith Sackett conducting the service. Burial under the direction of the Sievers Mortuary was made in the Fort Calhoun Cemetery. Pallbearers were Howard Craven, Leonard Miller, Kenneth Jahnel, Jack Rathjen, Rymer Fedde and Howard Widener. Honorary pallbearers were Henry Wulbern, Rudolph Kuhl, William Wulbern, Sr., Robbie Andersen, Andrew Wiese and Fred R. Hansen.

Note: Fritz was buried in Section B Block 116 Grave 3 in the Ft. Calhoun Cemetery.
