MELVIN VERNON CARNES
Graveside services were held Tuesday, October 26, at the Oakdale, Nebraska Cemetery for Melvin Vernon Carnes, 62, who died October 23, 1982. The Rev. Richard Odgers conducted the services.
Melvin Vernon Carnes was born in Oakdale, Nebraska, on February 5, 1920, to Sterling and Hilda Bickford Carnes. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the Navy from 1942-1948.
He had been married to Loretta Olerick.
He is survived by his wife, Loretta, of Sac City, Iowa; two daughters, Beverly Roleck, Overland Park, Kansas; and Mary , Sac City, Iowa, and three sons, John, Russell and Michael, all of Sac City, Iowa. His father, Sterling Carnes, Carroll, Nebraska; two brothers, Stanley Carnes, Blair, and Robert Carnes, Carroll; and two sisters, Mrs. Loren (Marian) McGee, Omaha, and Mrs. Charles (Joy) Phillips, Omaha, also survive him.
Campbell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements for services.
