Retired U. S. Army Colonel John A. Carrigan, 87, died on Aug. 22, 1988 in Auburndale, Florida. He was a native of Blair.

Carrigan was born as the son of Edmund Burke Carrigan and Frances Lawson Carrigan on July 2, 1901.

Colonel Carrigan served in the United States Army during World War II and Korea and was the Army Staff Judge Advocate and Legal Counsel for Premier Sigmon Ree during the Korean War.

Before entering the service, Mr. Carrigan was a Washington County Judge in Blair from 1933-1942. He was a member of the Adoniram Chapter No. 13 of the Royal Arch of Masons in Blair.

Carrigan had lived in Winter Haven, Florida since 1984. He is survived by nieces and nephews.

Interment will be in the Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia with full Military Honors at a later date.
