Doris M. Carson, 78, of Oakland, died Sept. 4, 2004, at the Oakland Heights Nursing Home.

Funeral services were Wednesday, Sept. 8, at the First Presbyterian Church in Craig. Interment was in the Craig Cemetery.

Doris Mae Carson was born Jan. 16, 1926, near Fullerton to Herman and Margaret (Lewis) Sorensen.

She was a 1944 graduate of Tekamah High School. She obtained her teaching certificate at Wayne State College. She taught school until her marriage to Jack Carson of Craig on Dec. 26, 1946.

The family farmed south of Craig until moving to Tekamah in 1998.

Mrs. Carson loved to garden, read, play cards, and spend time with her grandchildren. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church and the American Legion Auxiliary in Craig.

She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Burns McCulloh of O’Neill, Linda and Harry Bisanz of Tekamah, and Kathy and Neil Jensen of Blair; sons and daughter-in-law, Gary Carson of Craig, and Randy and Janell Carson Herman; sisters and brother-in-law, Evelyn Stejskal of Palatine, Ill., and Betty and Vernon Goedeken of Columbus; brother and sister-in-law, Melvin and Marie Sorensen of West St. Paul, Minn.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, in 2001; a sister, Shirley Wergin, infant sister, Ruth, and infant grandson, James Carson.

Memorials are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church or the Craig American Legion Auxiliary.
