Funeral services for James P. Carson will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Howard Bailey.

Burial will be in the Blair Cemetery.

James was born on May 12, 1922, in Omaha to Orville and Grace (Dowd) Carson.

He attended school in Omaha and entered the service in 1942 during WWII, serving in the Navy on a submarine.

On January 19, 1969, he was united in marriage to Phyllis Gladwin in Blair.

James was an ex-police officer and an over-the-road truck driver.

He was a member of the Blair VFW, Blair American Legion, Past Commander of Blair VFW, Past Commander of VFW Post No. 3421 of Omaha, Past District No. 7 Quartermaster.

James entered the Veterans Hospital in Knoxville, Iowa, where he died on April 2, 1988.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis, three daughters, Mrs. Keith (Kathy) Matzen, Blair; Mrs. Lyle (Pattie) Hall, Kennard; and Mrs. Randy (Lynette) Roberts, Council Bluffs, Iowa; two stepsons, Bob and David Gladwin of Blair; and one brother, David Carson of Kearney.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Orville Robert and Robert Orville Carson.

Serving as casket bearers will be Frank Chenaille, Jim Hansen, David Hayko, Jeff Pleskac, Jerry Underwood and Mike Woodard.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Jensen, Warren Kempcke, Chick Madsen, Art Robinson, Earl Stiner and Jim Williby.
