Phyllis H. Carson, 73, of Blair, died on Thursday, Aug. 24, 2000, at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha.

Funeral services were held on Monday, Aug 28, at First United Methodist Church. Interment was at the Blair Cemetery.

Phyllis Helen Carson was born on Feb. 1, 1927, in Blair, to Howard and Helen (Nelson) Woodard. She graduated from Blair High School in 1944.

In January of 1969, she was married to James P. Carson in Blair.

Mrs. Carson worked as an advertising clerk for the Omaha World Herald.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School for several years.

She was also a member of the Blair Eagles, was past president of the Blair VFW Auxiliary, and VFW Auxiliary Memorial team leader.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Mary Gladwin of Blair, and David and Linda Gladwin of Omaha; three daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Keith Matzen of Blair, Pattie and Lyle Hall of Kennard, and Lynette and Jimmy Thomas of Omaha; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Doris Nicholson of Blair, Hazel Stubbs of Brookfield, Mo., and Virginia Welch of Denver, Colo.; three brothers, James Woodard of Blair, Russell Woodard of Jefferson, Iowa, and Howard Woodard of Los Angeles, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James, in 1988.

Memorials are suggested to the Methodist Church, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, or the American Cancer Society.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
