Clara Schurman, 99

Clara Schurman, 99, of Nickerson, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, in the Nye Pointe Health and Rehab Center in Fremont.

Funeral services were Saturday, Jan. 5, at Salem Lutheran Church of Fontanelle, with interment in the Salem Lutheran Cemetery of Fontanelle.

Clara Schurman was born June 11, 1902, in rural Arlington to Carl and Sadie (Monke) Mengedoht. She attended rural Arlington schools as well as Midland College in Fremont.

On Feb. 25, 1932, she married Kermit Schurman in Fontanelle.

She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church of Fontanelle. She was a charter member of both the Christian Womens Missionary Society and the Elkhorn View Extension Club.

She is survived by her husband, Kermit, son and daughter-in-law, Carroll and Phyllis Schurman of Nickerson, two grandchildren and their spouses, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, three brothers and four sisters.

Memorials are suggested to Salem Lutheran Church of Fontanelle.

Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont is in charge of arrangements.
