Willie W. Schurr, 86

Services for Willie W. Schurr, 86, who died June 23, 1993 at his home were Saturday, June 26 at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Eustis, Nebraska.

Willie W. Schurr was born September 13, 1906 near Eustis to Christian and Marie Gaibler Schurr. He was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church November 29, 1906.

He graduated from Eustis High School and taught school in rural Eustis for three years. He farmed in the southwest Eustis area all his life, moving to Eustis in the mid-1970s.

He was a past president of the St. John’s Lutheran Church council, a former Sunday School teacher and superintendent, a member of Luther League and Lutheran Brotherhood and a League sponsor. He had served as a member of the school board of a rural school southwest of Eustis and was secretary of the Eustis/Orafino Telephone Company for many years.

He married Rose Koch August 10, 1933.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Fred, George, Albert, John and art; two sisters, Anna and Mary; a son-in-law, DuWayne Lunde and a granddaughter, Kirsten Lunde.

He is survived by his wife, Rose, of Eustis; a son, LaRaye and his wife, Charlene, of Eustis; three daughters, Carolyn Schurr and good friend of the family, June Prange of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Kathryn Steinbergs of Blair and Mary and her husband, Bruce Bakke of Grapevine, Texas; a brother, Martin of Eustis; a sister, Alma Schurr of Elwood; six grandchildren and their spouses, Sherry and Lee Hueftle; Glenda and Mike Naughtin, Arlo and Alisa Schurr, Karrie Lunde, Andrea Lunde and Brian Bakke; seven great-grandchildren and other relatives, neighbors and friends.
