William Marian Carter

William Carter, an old time Blair boy, died Thursday, July 3, at his home in Albuquerque, New Mexico, of tuberculosis.

Mr. Carter was 31 years old and was born and raised in Blair and for a number of years has been in the employee of the Bell Telephone Co. as a lineman. He had but recently located in New Mexico and the news of his death came as quite a shock to his many friends hereabouts. The body was shipped to his former home at Irquois, S. D., for burial, the funeral being held Monday.

Mr. Carter leaves a wife and baby three weeks old, besides a mother at the Grand Island Soldiers’ Home and a sister, Mrs. Watson Hain, of this city.

Buried: Iroquois, Kingsbury County, South Dakota Mrs. Watson Hain received word Thursday last week of the death of her brother, Will Carter, who went down to Albuquerque, New Mexico, some time ago suffering from tuberculosis of the bowel. Mrs. Carter went down to see him, arriving only a few days before the end came. She took the body to Iroquois, South Dakota, where her people live for burial. Mrs. Hain went up to attend the funeral. He was 31 years of age, and besides the wife, he leaves a little girl three weeks old. His mother is at the Soldiers Home at Burkette, Nebraska, and was too feeble to go to the funeral.
