Leola N. Jensen, 99

Funeral services for Leola N. Jensen, 99, of Blair were held Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2006, at First United Methodist Church in Blair. Burial was held at the Blair Cemetery. Mrs. Jensen died peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Monday, Nov. 20, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

Leola Naomi Nelsen was born Dec. 23, 1906, in Kennard to George and Myrtle Nelsen. She graduated from Kennard High School, and went on to graduate from Wayne State Teacher's College and taught in Orum.

She met and married Raymond M. Jensen on June 7, 1933, in Florence. Mr. Jensen served in the Navy during World War II, then went to work for Pacific Northwest Bell. The Jensens lived in Hillsborough, Ore., until his death in July of 1963. Mrs. Jensen then came back to her family and lived in Omaha and Blair until her death.

She will be fondly remembered by her family and friends as a strong-willed woman who was looking forward to celebrating her 100th birthday.

She is survived by a sister, Mildred Paulsen of Gretna, and four nephews and their families; Gary and Pat Paulsen of Omaha, Clyde and Wanda Nelsen of Kennard, Ron and Lola Nelsen of Huntsville, Texas, and Don Nelsen of Hawaii; many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Clyde Nelsen; and a sister, Vera.

Memorials are suggested to the Blair First United Methodist Church.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Note: Leola was buried in the Blair Cemetery, Blair, Washington County, Nebraska, USA, in Block 86 Lot 10 Grave 7.
