FONTANELLE NEWS:

Mrs. Z. Dunklau, one of the older respected citizens of Washington county, died at her farm home six miles north of Arlington on Wednesday, September 17th, at the age of 77 years following an illness of several years of gall stones. She was born and reared in Westphalen, Germany, where she was married to Zacharias Dunklau early in the year 1867. Two years later they emigrated to America and settled on the farm in Lincoln township which has been their home continuously since. Eleven children were born to the union, three of whom preceded her to the great beyond. The surviving relatives are the aged husband, three daughters, five sons and a number of grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, all of whom reside in Washington county except one daughter, Mrs. Daniel Drude, who resides at Truman, Minn.

The funeral was held on Sunday at 1 o’clock p.m. from the Brown Creek Lutheran church with Rev. Wolters officiating amid the participation of a large circle of relatives and friends. The remains were laid to rest in the family lot in the cemetery near the church.

(The Brown Creek Lutheran Church was an early name for St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, located north of Arlington.)
