Ileen A. Schutt, 81

Ileen A. Schutt, 81, of Norfolk, died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2003, at Saint Joseph’s Nursing Home in Norfolk.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 31, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Norfolk, with interment in Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Ileen Anna Schutt was born April 3, 1921, to Joseph Kessler and Mary Thelen.

She attended rural Cedar County Schools through the eighth grade, and graduated from St. Francis High School in 1939. She attended Wayne State College for two years.

She taught school for two years in Cedar County before her marriage on June 10, 1947, in Randolph to Alfred T. Schutt. After her marriage, the couple farmed in the Randolph and Wayne area before moving to Norfolk in 1965. Mrs. Schutt then worked as a cook at the Regional Center in Norfolk.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Norfolk, Altar Society, Catholic Daughters, VFW Auxiliary, Golden Hearts Club, 4-H leader for the Gingham Gals 4-H Club of Wayne.

She is survived by five daughters and sons-in-law, Louise Logston of Polk, Darlene and Steve Watson of Plano, Texas, Rogene and Tom Hoff of Norfolk, Susann and Dale Muehlmeier of Norfolk, and Jeanette and Joel Lilavois, also of Plano; one son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Lisa Schutt of Arlington; brother and sister-in-law, Ed and Rita Kessler of Randolph; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy and John Schlichting, and Lexie Heger, all of Randolph, and Marilyn and Arnold Eickhoff of Chinico Hills, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; a brother-in-law and spouse, LaVern and Rosemary Kavanaugh of Lincoln.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred, a brother, a sister, and one son-in-law.

Memorials are suggested to the Arlington Community Foundation or the Norfolk Catholic Schools Foundation.

Stonacek Memorial Chapel in Pierce is in charge of arrangements.
