Alice Pfeiffer, 93

Alice Pfeiffer, 93, of Fremont died Thursday, Oct. 23, 1997 at the Fremont Care Center.

Services were Wednesday at Salem Lutheran Church in Fontanelle. Rev. Charles W. Bichel officiated. Burial was in the Salem Lutheran Cemetery.

Mrs. Pfeiffer was born June 9, 1904 in Wayne, Neb. to Preston and Laura Crockett, the youngest of seven children. She grew up in Wayne, where she graduated from high school and Wayne State College. She received her masters degree from the University of Nebraska, in Lincoln. She taught school for many years and was the last superintendent of the Nickerson High School in Nickerson, Neb. On June 6, 1943, she married Chester Pfeiffer in the Salem Lutheran Church. They farmed near Nickerson until 1967 when they moved to Fremont.

She was a member of Salem Lutheran church, where she had been active in the women’s organizations. She had also been active in the Rosedale Women’s Club, the Retired Teacher’s Associations and was a member for over 50 years of Arbor Vitae Chapter No. 92 Order of Eastern Star, of which she was Worthy Matron in 1969.

Survivors are a son, Wayne Pfeiffer of Guelph, Ontario, Canada; two granddaughters; two nieces and two nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester in October, 1982 and her six brothers and sisters.

Memorials may be given to Salem Lutheran Church or Arbor Vitae Chapter No. 92.

Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont was in charge of arrangements.
