Lawrence "Roy" ALbertsen, 76

Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Wayne, Nebr. for Lawrence “Roy” Albertsen, 76, of Wayne who died Dec. 28, 1996 at the Providence Medical Center in Wayne. Rev. Martin Russell and Rev. William Koeber will officiate. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Wayne.

Lawrence Albertsen was born Oct. 24, 1920 on a farm in Thurston County, Nebr. to Fred and Dorthea Breitbarth Albertsen. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bancroft, Nebr.

He attended rural school near Bancroft.

He farmed until entering the United States Army during World War II. He served in the Signal Corps in the Pacific Campaign.

Following his discharge from the Army, he returned to farming in the Bancroft area.

He was employed at John Deere in West Point, Nebr. before working with the United States Department of Agriculture as a technician in soil conservation.

He married Alice Greckel Oct. 7, 1951 at West Point.

They moved to Wayne in 1957.

He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Wayne.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

He is survived by his wife, Alice Albertsen of Wayne; one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Rodney Deck of Winside, Nebr.; three grandchildren, Bryan Deck, Michelle Deck and Melyssa Deck; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Lester and Delia Albertsen of Brookings, SD and Harold and Ernie Albertsen of West Point; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Marilyn and Francis Schinstock of West Point and Margaret and Don Motl of Newman Grove, Nebr. and nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Bryan Deck, Dean Albertsen, Jim Schinstock, Tom Albertsen, Keith Schinstock and Mervin Hamm.

Barb Meyer will be organist.

Schumacher Funeral Home in Wayne is in charge of arrangements.
