R. M. “Skinny” Pfeiffer, 73

Services for R. M. “Skinny” Pfeiffer, 73 of Arlington who died January 4, 1995 at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha were Saturday, January 7 at the Arlington Community Church in Arlington. Rev. Lee Milligan officiated. Burial was in the Arlington Cemetery with military graveside services conducted by members of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 8332 and American Legion Post No. 71 of Arlington.

R. M. “Skinny” Pfeiffer was born April 27, 1921 in rural Arlington. He grew up at Arlington and was a graduate of Arlington High School.

He worked at Beechcraft Airplane Plant in Wichita, Kansas and also played semi-pro baseball in Wichita before entering the United States Army in 1944. He served with the Army in Central Europe during World War II and was discharged in 1946.

After his discharge, he returned to Arlington where he was co-owner and operator of the Arlington Oil Co. That business was sold and Bell Creek, Inc. was then started. He was co-owner and operator of that company until retiring in 1985.

He was a member of the Arlington Community Church, VFW Post No. 8332, American Legion Post. 71, 40 & 8 Voiture 1018 of Fremont; Hiram Lodge No. 52, A.F. & A.M. of Arlington, Scottish Rite Valley of Omaha, Tangier Shrine Temple of Omaha; Royal Order of Jesters Court No. 19 of Omaha; Boone & Crocket Club, Fremont Shrine Club and the Fremont Golf Club.

He served on the Arlington Volunteer Fire Department and had been fire chief. He also served terms on the Arlington Village Board and was a former Arlington mayor. He was a licensed pilot.

He married Donna Rhea August 4, 1948 at Las Vegas, Nevada. She preceded him in death January 28, 1984.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Ella Menking Pfeiffer; a brother, Clarence and sisters, Katherine Dalrymple, Ruth Pfeiffer and Helen Heuerman.

His is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Phil and Tami Pfeiffer of Lincoln; a daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Steve Weyhrich of Omaha; brothers, Walt and Herman, both of Arlington; sisters, Margaret Rhea of Fort Morgan, Colorado and Dora Bradley of Wichita, Kansas and four grandchildren, Jessie Weyhrich, Anna Weyhrich, Logan Pfeiffer and Cody Pfeiffer.

Pallbearers were Robert French, Andy Svendgard, Robert Monke, Neil Lang, Charles House and Dr. Louis Otto.

Ruby House was organist. Melvin Misfeldt was soloist.

Memorial may be directed to Arlington Community Church or the Arlington Library.

Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington was in charge of arrangements.
