Services for Rufus Buffaloe, age 69 of Blair, who died at Memorial Community Hospital July 27, 1991 will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 30 at the First United Methodist Church, with Dr. Howard Bailey officiating. A private graveside service will be held on Thursday.

Rufus A. Buffaloe was born April; 19, 1922 at Hirum, Texas to Sell and Ruth McDonald Buffaloe. He attended school in Palacios, Texas and served in the Air Force during World War II. He moved to Aurora, Missouri in 1946 and was with the Aurora bank until 1961.

While in Aurora he was a member of the first Presbyterian Church and served on several boards, was a choir member for 10 years, served as president of the Barry/Lawrence County Bankers Group, Southwest Missouri Chapter of BAI, Metro Club; was Secretary-Treasurer Aurora Chamber of Commerce; Lawrence County Road District Tri-County Fair Association; served as Scout Master Boy Scouts of America Troop 48, Cub Scout leader and headed many charitable drives (Red Cross, Cancer Foundation, Ozarks Playgrounds Assn.)

In 1961 he moved to Blair and was vice-president of the Washington County Bank. In Blair he was a member of First United Methodist Church, Blair Lions Club, (Holding all the offices in the club) Commander of American Legion Post No. 154, member of 40 & 8, past president of Omaha/Council Bluffs Chapter BAI, treasurer and Board of Directors Blair Chamber of Commerce and treasurer of the Salvation Army from 1962 to 1984.

He is survived by his wife, Penny; daughter and son-in-law Diane and Joe Maxwell, Blair; two sons and daughters-in-law Bob and Kendal Buffaloe, Blair and Greg and Linda Buffaloe, Tacoma, Washington; seven grandchildren, Jeff, Jason, Amber, Heather, Carrie, Jamie and Cari. He is also survived by his mother, Ruth Evans, Palacios, Texas; two sisters, Pete Plomer, Palacios, Texas and Faye Baughman, Baytown, Texas; one step-daughter, Trudy Edwards and two step-grandchildren, Erin and Shawn Edwards.
