Betty A Phifer, 81

Betty A. Phifer, 81, of Marshville, N.C., died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2006, at Carolinas Medical Center-Union.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at the Marshville United Methodist Church, with interment in the Harmony Community Church Cemetery.

Betty Ann Quist was born Nov. 18, 1925, in Omaha to Edward and Goldie Quest.

She was a member of the Marshville United Methodist Church. She loved participating in church, senior citizens and community activities. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, gardening, and being with family, friends and neighbors.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, William M. Phifer Jr., two daughters and sons-in-law, Frances and Lathan Williams of Farmville, N.C. and Beverly and Charlie Malmin of Waynesville, N.C.; a son, Eric Phifer, and his partner, Dr. Eric Schreiber, Amsterdam, Netherlands; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Norma and Don Olson and Elaine Ahrens, all of Blair; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Memorials are suggested to the Marshville United Methodist Church, 310 Ross Street, Marshville, NC 28103.
