Jess Phillips, Of Humboldt, Died Thursday

Jess Phillips, of Humboldt, Nebraska, who is the father of Mrs. Lee Lucke, of Blair, died Thursday at the Bryan Memorial Hospital in Lincoln. Death was attributed to a heart ailment.

Mr. Phillips was 76 years of age, and had been a resident of the Humboldt area all of his life. He was born there November 9th, 1899.

He was engaged in farming until 1961 when he moved to Humboldt to become manager of the Cooper Elevator at Humboldt. He held this position for eight years.

He is survived by his wife, Gladys and by two daughters. Mrs. Shirley Lucke, of Blair and Mrs. Allen (Ina May) Rouse, of Lincoln, are the daughters.

A brother, Stanley Phillips resides at Gretna. There are four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be at the United Methodist Church in Humboldt today (Monday) at 2 p.m. The Rev. William Conrad will conduct the service. Burial will be made in the Pleasant View Cemetery north of Humboldt under the direction of the Wherry Funeral Home.
