Lawrence Laroy (Red) Scott, 88

Services for Lawrence Laroy (Red) Scott, 88, who died October 6, 1993 at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair were Monday, October 11 at the Presbyterian Church of Fort Calhoun. Rev. David Ludwig officiated. Burial was in the Fort Calhoun Cemetery.

Lawrence Laroy Scott was born October 7, 1904 at rural Atchison County, Missouri to James Laroy Porter and Rosa Ensminger Scott.

He married Maybell Euteve Shepperson October 21, 1929 in Rockport, Missouri. They moved to Fort Calhoun, Nebraska in December, 1945 from Omaha, Nebraska.

He worked most of his life as a heavy equipment operator and retired from the Corps of Engineers in Onawa, Iowa on July 28, 1966. Not wanting to give up, he still worked running his dragline on other various jobs. He also did woodworking in his shop.

He had resided at Good Shepherd Home in Blair for the last year.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Maybell; one son, James; a great-granddaughter, Brandi Lea Scott; his parents, four brother and two sisters.

He is survived by 12 children, Lilly Mae Lund of Yutan, Nebraska; Robert Laroy of Sundown, Texas; Carl Raymond of Oceanside, California; Lawrence Lee, Jr. of Blair; Sharon Rose Haynes of Onawa, Iowa; Sandra Kay Weidt of Onawa; Joseph Duane of Omaha; Gary Lyle Clayton of Fort Calhoun; Gregory Alan of Sandwich, Massachusetts and Rex Arnold of Fort Calhoun; 36 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and three sisters, Mrs. Eva Hale of Omaha; Mrs. Minnie Yost of Westboro, Missouri and Mrs. Betty Sheridan of Essex, Iowa.

Pallbearers were Brian Scott, Craig Scott, Steve Scott, Curt Scott, Ryan Scott and Robert Scott, Jr.

Honorary Pallbearers were Rick Scott, Mike Scott, Clinton Scott, Jake Scott, Raymond Scott, Richard Scott, Ralph Scott, Roy Scott, Carl Scott, Jr., Glen Lund, Jr., Tim Haynes, Randy Weidt, Andy Metzler and Adam Metzler.

Carol Sprick was organist. Joy Stevens was soloist.

Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
