Gene Paul Christ, 77

Gene Paul Christ, 77, of Plattsmouth, died suddenly Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, at the Bellevue Medical Center in Bellevue.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, at the Reichmuth Funeral Home in Elkhorn. Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Elkhorn. Visitation will be noon to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Gene Paul Christ was born Dec. 5, 1936, in Walthill, to Otto and Hattie (Wilder) Christ.

He grew up in Walthill and attended grade school there.

He had lived in Blair, King Lake and Hastings before moving back to King Lake.

In recent years, he moved to be with his daughter, Tammy, in Blair, and finally to Waterford Assisted Living in Plattsmouth.

Mr. Christ worked as a welder at Kelly Ryan Farm Equipment in Blair for more than 20 years before working for Armour in Hastings until his retirement.

He enjoyed woodworking, crafts and fishing. He loved his grandchildren and attending their many activities. He was an avid Husker fan and enjoyed chicken-fried steak at Parkers in Nebraska City.

He is survived by his children: Gene Christ Jr. and Linda Christ, both of Washington state, Paul Christ and Tammy Lucht, both of Blair, James Longbine Jr. of LaVista, Troy Longbine of Lincoln, Jeffrey Lewis of Iowa and Kellie Bouton of Hastings; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers Albert of Norfolk and Gerald of Fremont; sisters Ramona Bales of West Point and Clarabell Hankins of Homer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Hattie; his wife, Tenya; and siblings: Art, Emil, Clarence, Henry, Mildred Biggio and Ernie.
