Samuel E. Case died at his home, which adjoins the city on the southwest, at 12 o’clock yesterday, Tuesday, Jan. 5th, from the effects of a paralytic stroke received just before Thanksgiving time. He seemed to recover some, being able to talk, but about a week ago he began to fail noticeably. The end came peaceably with the wife and three children at his bedside.

The funeral will be held at the Methodist church at 2 o’clock tomorrow, Thursday, Rev. J. W. Lewis officiating.

Deceased was born in Wayne County, Ohio, Nov. 4th, 1846, and was therefore past 68 years of age. When but a small boy his parents moved to Cass County, near Plattsmouth, where he grew to manhood and was married to Miss Eliza Hendricks, Sept. 18th, 1870. To them five children were born, three whom are now living, Mrs. Mollie Viall, Mrs. M. C. Boston, of Blair, and Samuel Case Jr., of Herman Township.

They moved to his county some sixteen years ago, and lived on one of C. McMenemy’s farms north of Blair, until six years ago, when they bought a small fruit farm southwest of town. Beside his wife and three children he is survived by ten grandchildren.

The sorrowing family has the sympathy of the entire community.
