Walter Edward “Eddie” Case was born Oct. 12, 1912, to Henry Thurman and Delpha Aletha (Ingram) Case at Edgar Springs, Mo. The Case family moved from Missouri to Herman where he attended grade school until the early death of his father, when he quit school to work to help take care of his family of six.

Mr. Case served almost three years in the Army during WW II. Part of his time was spent overseas. He returned to Herman following his discharge.

In 1963, he married Ruby G. Moran of rural Lyons. He moved to the Cuming County farm and was employed at Johnson Hardware in Lyons for nearly 30 years, retiring in 1999. He was a very good appliance repairman and spent many after work hours going to friends’ and neighbor’s homes to fix TVs or anything else that might need his expertise.
