Margaret McGill, 73

Services for Margaret M. McGill, 73 who died at her home June 21, 1990 were Monday, June 25 at Brockhaus Funeral Home. Rev. Olin Belt will officiate with burial in Greenwood Cemetery.

Margaret McGill was born July 26, 1916, at Blair, the daughter of George and Maxon Sprague McQuarrie. She graduated from Blair High School.

She began teaching at age 19 and had taught near Herman and Craig before moving to Creighton, where she taught for 23 years in the public school. She retired in 1978.

She received a bachelor’s degree from Dana College and master’s degree from the University of Omaha. She was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, PEO Chapter EJ, Golden Valley extension Club and Creighton book discussion group. She had been Center correspondent for newspapers at Creighton, Verdigre and Bloomfield.

She married Malcolm Brodersen in 1939. She married Donald McGill in 1964 at Creighton.

She was preceded in death by her parents and first husband.

Survivors include her husband; son, Robert Brodersen of O’Neill; daughters Susan (Mrs. Jerry) Harn of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Polly (Mrs. Joseph) Goecke of Omaha; step-son, James McGill of Omaha and Roger McGill of San Mateo, California; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters Ann (Mrs. Robert) Carlson of Fremont and Mrs. Mary Beth Wright of Omaha; brother, John McQuarrie of Denver.
