Barbara J. Chamberlin, 75, of Hooper, died Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at Methodist Hospital in Omaha.

A memorial service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 19, at first Lutheran Church in Blair.

Barbara Jean Kronberg was born May 24, 1935, in Denison, Iowa, to Elmer M. and Florence (Roy) Kronberg.

She was known and loved by many through her employment at Copes Café and Colonial Corners (Fiesta Grande) in Blair. She attended Blair High School and later graduated from Metropolitan Community College with an Associates Degree in Applied Science. She furthered her education at Bahner’s Beauty College in Fremont, earned her cosmetology license, and worked as a beautician at Modern Beauty in Blair.

For about the last 13 years, up until her death, she worked fulltime at Bell Field Elementary School in Fremont, participating in the Foster Grandparent program as a teacher’s aide and tutor for special needs children. She was greeted and loved by her many children, teachers and school administration as “Grandma Barb”. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, crocheting, knitting and most recently, brushing up on her computer skills.

She is survived by her five children, Michael Chamberlin of Fort Worth, Texas, Debra Kempcke of Omaha, Pamela Chamberlin and Gregory W. Chamberlin, both of Fremont, and Lana Behrends of Lodgepole; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Kronberg, and a sister Maxine Benck.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair is in charge of arrangements.
