Clyde E. Chamberlin, 71, of Arlington, died Monday, Sept. 3, 2001, at St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha. Funeral services were Friday, Sept. 7 at the Arlington Community Church, with the Rev. Lynn Martin officiating. Interment was at the Arcadia (Neb.) Cemetery. Military honors were provided by members of V.F.W. Post No. 8832, and American Legion Post No. 71 of Arlington.

Clyde E. Chamberlin was born May 17, 1930 in Mason City to Chester and Bertha (Kipp) Chamberlin. He grew up in the rural Mason City area, and was a graduate of Mason City High School.

He moved to Omaha in 1948 and was employed at the Armour Meat Packing Plant. He served in the U. S. Navy from 1948 to 1950, and then served during the Korean War from 1951-1953.

On June 21, 1957, he married Lois Woody in Papillion.

He moved to Millard and lived there for 12 years, before moving to Grand Island, where he lived for 10 years. He then returned to Millard for another 12 years before moving to Arlington, where he had resided fro the past 10 years. He was employed at Swift & Company (now ConAgra) for more than 36 years before retiring in 1991.

Mr. Chamberlain was a member of V.F.W. Post No. 8832 and American Legion Post No. 71, both of Arlington.

He is survived by his wife, Lois; two sons and daughter-in-law, John Schmidthorst of Omaha, and Craig and Pam Chamberlin of Arlington, brother, Arthur Chamberlin of Mason city, two sisters, Effie Bellar of Benkelman and Norma Chamberlin of Omaha, five grandchildren, Johnny Jr., Josh, Melissa, Sheri and Amber; and two great grandchildren, Landon and Triston.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Gordon Chamberlin.

Memorials are suggested to the Arlington Community Church, Arlington Senior Center, V.F.W. Post No. 8832 and American Legion Post No. 71 (both of Arlington) and the Nebraska Kidney Foundation.

Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington was in charge of arrangements.
