BETTY B. DORTCH, 90

Funeral services for Betty B. Dortch, 90, of Arlington, were held Saturday, Sept. 22, 2001, at the Arlington Community Church in Arlington, with the Rev. Lynn Martin officiating. Interment was in the Arlington Cemetery. Mrs. Dortch died Wednesday, Sept. 19, at Nye Point Health and Rehab Center in Fremont.

Betty B. Dortch was born June 13, 1911, in Temple, Texas, to Nicholas and Nancy (Lee) Simmonds. She grew up in Kentucky and moved to Omaha as a teenager.

On Nov. 1, 1931, she married Elwood “Doc” Dortch in Papillion.

She lived in Oklahoma for one year and then in Missouri for one year before moving to Fremont in 1948. Mrs. Dortch moved to Arlington in 1949.

From 1950 to 1959, she was a cashier at the former F&R Grocery in Arlington, and then at Hanson’s Grocery in Arlington from 1959 to 1965.

She was a member of the Arlington Community Church, and the church circle, and belonged to local card clubs.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John “Jerry” and Lila Dortch of Fremont; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Wayne Scheer of Fremont; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a brother, James Simmonds; and a sister, Ann Stibal.

Memorials are suggested to Arlington Community Church.

Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington was in charge of arrangements.
