THOMAS JAMES DOUNTAS, 78

Thomas James Dountas, 78, of Wisner, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000, at his home due to cardiac arrest. Graveside services will be 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2000, at the Wisner Cemetery.

Thomas James Dountas was born June 28, 1921, to James and Mary Dountas in Topeka, Kan. He was educated in Topeka and Omaha.

He was a veteran of WWII, serving from 1942 – 1945. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp as a liaison pilot for the Air Transport Command and other duties. He was honorably discharged.

On Nov. 6, 1950, he married Bette Jean Meier of Wisner.

He worked for Clark Equipment and Western Electric Corp., also known as Lucent Technologies.

He also owned and operated Lifeo, Inc., a forklift and heavy machinery sales and service business for more than 40 years.

He is survived by his wife, Bette; a daughter, Susan Dountas-Collar of Maumee, Ohio; and a brother, Paul of Shawnee Missiion, Kan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Peter; and two sisters, Mary and Helen.

Memorials are suggested to the Wisner Senior Center in Wisner.
