FATHER OF MRS. POUNDS WAS DESCENDANT OF EASTMAN KODAK FAMILY

Charles E. Downey, 85, father of Mrs. K. A. Pound of Blair, died last Thursday at the Pound residence, 206 East Colfax St., from effects of a stroke. He had come here from Independence, Mo., two months ago to make his home.

Mr. Downey was a member of a family long associated with photography, although he himself never was in that profession. His maternal grandmother was an Eastman, a member of the famed camera family. His sister and several of his children have been in the photography field.

Mr. Downey was born at Binghampton, Wis., in 1863 and came to Nebraska with his family in 1880, homesteading at Star, Nebr. ln 1904 he moved to O’Neill and in 1925 to Independence. The body was taken to Independence for services and burial.

Surviving Mr. Downey are four sons, Sumner of O’Neill, Lee of Denver, Randall of Sheridan, Wyo., and Maurice of El Cerrito, Calif.; three daughters, Mildred of Monrovia, Calif., Ardis Crom of Alhambra, Calif., and Freida Pound of Blair; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
