Donald N. McGinley, 75 Donald N. McGinley, 75, of Blair, died Monday, March 15, 2010, at the Nebraska Medical Center.

A wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 19, with funeral services at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 20, both at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Blair. Mr. McGinley’s ashes will be taken to North Dakota at a later date to be interred in the rural family plot where his grandparents are buried.

Donald Neil “Don” McGinley was born Aug. 29, 1934, at Minot, N.D., to Edward and Inez McGinley. He grew up on his parents’ farm in Carpio, N.D., and graduated from Carpio High School in 1952.

He served in the National Guard and Naval Reserves.

He graduated from business college in Fargo, N.D., with degrees in accounting and drafting. For 33 years, he had a successful career as a manager of military base exchanges in the United States, Vietnam and Germany.

On April 19, 1979, he married Eleanore Simmons in Wappinger, N.Y.

After Mr. McGinley retired from management, he took great enjoyment working in real estate with his wife in Virginia, achieving top broker sales numerous times.

Over the years, his hobbies included woodworking, hunting, traveling and gardening. He truly enjoyed time spent with family and friends, and he loved his dogs. IN recent years, he enjoyed going to the Tekamah senior center (Chatt Center) weekly to visit with friends and play cards, and served on the board of directors.

He is survived by his wife, Eleanore, of Rural Retreat, Va.; three children and their spouses, Wanda and Larry Holzer of Blair, Shelda and Greta Sukut of Box Elder, S.D., and Kevin and Cindy Sukut of North Bend; two stepchildren and their spouses, Virginia and Steve Huber of Newburgh, N.Y. and Cathleen and Ron Squires of Stafford, Va.; sister and brother-in-law, Merry Lou and Glenn Sutter of Antioch, Calif.; half-brother, Norman Behlmer of Detroit Lakes, Minn.; grandchildren; great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, James, and an infant son.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Chatt Center in Tekamah.
