Herman Girl Succumbs Auto Injuries

Crushed By Car When It Crashes Into 15-ft. Ditch

Sandra Lee McGowan, 13-year old Herman girl, died late Sunday at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair as the result of injuries sustained in a car wreck earlier in the day. The one-car accident took place 1 ½ miles north of Arlington on the Spiker road.

Mrs. Kenneth Kubie and her three children were on their way to church Sunday morning when the car skidded, went out of control and plunged down a 15-foot embankment. Sandra Lee, the oldest of the three children, was riding in the front seat with her mother. She reportedly, was thrown from the car and then crushed as the car rolled back on her. Mrs. Kubie was also injured as she was thrown from the car. She was taken to the hospital at Blair along with her daughter, but she has been released.

The two younger children, who were riding in the back seat, were not injured.
