HATTIE DREESSEN, 90

Hattie Dreessen, 90, died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002, at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha.

Funeral services were Monday, Oct. 14, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bennington with the Rev. James Price officiating. Interment was in Flower Hill Cemetery in Bennington.

Hattie Dreessen was born Oct. 5, 1912, on the family farm near Omaha to Eggert and Bertha (Minard) Bock. She grew up on the farm in Douglas County and attended District No. 58 Country School and Benson High School. As a young girl, she enjoyed sewing and cooking, but much of her time was taken up with farm work and chores.

On Feb. 21, 1940, she married Julius Dreessen at the Douglas County Courthouse in Omaha. The couple had two sons,, and raised their family on the farm on 144th Street, between Dodge and Blondo streets.

Mrs. Dreessen was a hardworking homemaker, farm wife and helped with the family’s milking business. She continued to sew and cook with exceptional skill and enjoyed tending to her garden. She worked hard to make the holidays special for her whole family. She will be remembered as a compassionate woman who would always look on the bright side of any situation.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Ken and Che Dreessen of Elkhorn; and Wayne and Shelia Dreessen of Kennard; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Welland Bock of Elkhorn, and sister, Kate Dreessen of Elkhorn. She was preceded in death by her husband, a brother, and two sisters.

Hadan-Golden-Reichmuth Funeral Home in Bennington was in charge of arrangements.
