Evelyn Seckel, 76

Services for Evelyn Mildred Seckel, 76, of Pierce, who died December 8, 1992 at Lutheran Hospital in Norfolk were Saturday, December 12 at Zion Lutheran Church in Pierce. Rev. Gordon Bruce and Rev. David Bolton officiated. Burial was in New Lutheran Cemetery at Norfolk.

Evelyn Lulow was born December 11, 1915 near JayEm in Goshen County, Wyoming. She moved with her family to Tilden as a child. She attended Christian Day School, St. Paul’s Lutheran and Tilden High School, all in Tilden.

She lived west of Pierce and moved into Pierce in 1961. She was a substitute teacher in rural schools and worked for Lutheran Hospital, Pierce High School and Nebraska Veterans Home in Norfolk. She was a cook at several nursing homes in Norfolk.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Pierce, taught Sunday School for 20 years, was in the church choir, president of the Ladies Aid, a member of Walther League and treasurer of Lutheran Women’s Missionary League.

She married Martin Seckel February 12, 1941 in Tilden. He preceded her in death August 24, 1979.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.

She is survived by a son, Martin, Jr., of Beatrice; three daughters, Eileen Krueger of Rio Linda, California; Barbara Royuk of Arlington and Theoramae Bauermeister of Norfolk; a brother, Alton of Beaverton, Oregon; two sisters, Lucile Lewis of Scappoose, Oregon; Frieda Long of Portland, Oregon; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Memorials have been established to the church, The Lutheran Hour and Pierce Rescue Squad.
