Elna J. Sedlacek, 90

Elna J. Sedlacek, 90, of Fremont, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000, at the Fremont Care Center in Fremont.

Services were Monday, Feb. 14, 2000, at Salem Lutheran Church in Fontanelle. Burial was in the Salem Lutheran Cemetery in Fontanelle.

Elna J. Sedlacek was born June 7, 1909, to Hans and Carrie (Knudsen) Hansen, in rural Hooper. She grew up on a farm south of Hooper and lived in Minnesota for a brief time.

On Sept. 24, 1929, she married Emil Sedlacek in Fremont. The couple farmed south of Hooper for eight years, then farmed south of Blair for eight years. They then moved to a farm north of Fontanelle. After her husband’s death, she moved to Fremont. She was employed at the Campbell’s Soup Company in Fremont for 13 years, retiring in 1974.

She is survived by a son, Dale Sedlacek, of Fremont; two daughters and a son-in-law, Helen Hartwig of Aurora, Ill.; and Darlene and Vern Hagedorn of Hot Springs, S.D.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and four brothers, William, Harry, Raymond, Roy, and an infant brother, Elmer.

Memorials are suggested to Salem Lutheran Church in Fontanelle.

Moser Funeral Chapel in Fremont is in charge of arrangements.
