Earl L. Sexton, 89

Funeral services for Earl L. Sexton, 89, of Arlington, were held May 12 at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. The Rev. Olin Belt officiated. Interment was at Prospect View Cemetery in Pierce. Mr. Sexton died May 7, 2001, at Arbor Manor in Fremont.

Earl L. Sexton was born Jan. 3, 1912, in McLean, Neb., to John and Hattie (Hartman) Sexton. He grew up in Pierce County and was a 1931 graduate of Pierce High School.

On Nov. 13, 1937, he married Georgia I. Knight in Pierce. The couple lived on farms in Pierce, Osmond, Plainview and Creighton, and then moved to Verdel, where they lived for 35 years. Mr. Sexton retired from farming in 1977, and the couple moved to Arlington in 1980. Mr. Sexton had been residing at Arbor Manor since January, 2000.

He was a member of the Presbyterian Church at Verdel, where Mr. and Mrs. Sexton published the church paper.

He is survived by three sons and a daughter-in-law, Meade E. Sexton of Omaha, Glade A. and Toni Lee Sexton of Woodbridge, Va., and Larry Sexton of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., two daughters, Rosalie Brannan of San Angelo, Texas, and Judith Poppos of Wheaton, Md., sisters, Dorothy Brokaw of Arlington and Evelyn Hall of Grand Island, 17 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria, and a sister, Verna Sexton.

Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont was in charge of arrangements.
