George W. Dulany

OBITUARY - - Geo. W. Dulany was born in Clay county, Illinois, October 9th, 1851, and was the oldest son of E. and E. Dulany. Went to railroading when but sixteen years old. Moved to Blair in 1878, accepted a position on the S.C. & P.R.R. and was for many years a trustworthy employee. He left that system and signed with the C., St. P., M. and O. on which road he served as brakeman, conductor and baggage master. Three years ago the 9th of March, he went before the traveling engineers and passed an examination as locomotive engineer, and took an engine on the B. & M., and served as a true and brave engineer up to his death which occurred on June 25th, caused by the late heavy rains washing out a grade on the B. & M., and Black Hills division, near York, Nebraska.

Geo. W. Dulany was married to Miss Almedia F. Harless of West Virginia.

The deceased was a member of the K. of P., and a delegation of that order accompanied the remains to Blair where the brother knights of the Blair lodge assisted, in full uniform dress. The services were conducted by Capt. O. W. Vanderver of Lincoln lodge No. 10, marshal division No. 10. Rev. D. L. Hutchinson officiated at the residence. Services at the cemetery directed by chaplain of marshal division No. 10, Lincoln lodge.
