DARLENE J. DOOSE, 80

Darlene J. Doose, 80, died Dec. 12, 2001, at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha. Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Elkhorn. Interment was at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Elkhorn.

Darlene J. (Arp) Doose was born June 30, 1921, in Sheridan, Wyo., to John and Ruth (McDuffee) Arp. She grew up in the Yutan and Waterloo areas, attending school in Yutan and graduating from Waterloo High School. Growing up, she helped with the chores on the family farm and enjoyed riding horses in her spare time.

Darlene married Glenn Doose on June 22, 1945, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Yutan. The couple made their home in Elkhorn for all their lives.

Mrs. Doose worked for more than 25 years at the Douglas County ASCS office. She was active at Bethany Lutheran Church, serving in many capacities and helping wherever she could. In later years, she enjoyed television programs, including “Wheel of Fortune” and “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?”

Following her husband’s death in 1994, she remained in her home in Elkhorn.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Virginia “Ginger” and Lynn Edgell of Blair, two grandchildren, Suzie Edgell of Elkhorn and Scott Edgell of Blair; and sisters, Rosemary Ruzicka and LeAnna Anderson, both of Wahoo.

Reichmuth Funeral Home in Bennington was in charge of arrangements.
