OWEN J. DORATHY, 21

Owen J. Dorathy, 21, of Tekamah, died June 19, 2006, as the result of an automobile accident.

Services were June 23 at United Methodist Church in Tekamah. Burial was in Tekamah Cemetery.

Owen James Dorathy was born Dec. 26, 1984, in Blair to Gary and Lori (Jones) Dorathy. He grew up in Tekamah and graduated from Tekamah-Herman High School in 2003.

He attended Wayne State College where he had just finished his junior year.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church.

Owen is remembered as a friend to everyone he met. He had a contagious smile, which he shared regardless of the circumstances. His love of Ford Mustangs was surpassed only by his love for family and friends. “Dream as if you’ll live forever. Live as if you’ll die today,” was his favorite quote, a message he truly lived by.

Survivors include his parents, Gary and Lori Dorathy of Tekamah; brother and sister-in-law, Jarrod and Holly Dorathy of Omaha; aunts and uncles, Sandy and Steve Stone, Maria Matzen, and Gerald and Jean Dudley, all of Blair; Gail and Leanne Dorathy of Tekamah, Pam Bush of Jacksonville, Fla., Richard and Leann Dudley of Lincoln, Calif., Bradley Jones of Omaha, and Butch and Annette Jones of Springfield, Mo.; many cousins; and special friends, Megan Peterson of Tekamah and the Boyle family of Creighton.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Hamel-Peck-Pelan Funeral Home, Tekamah, was in charge of arrangements.
