LEWIS THURMAN “BUD” DORN, 71

Funeral services were Thursday, November 16 at United Methodist Church in Tekamah for Lewis T. “Bud” Dorn, age 71, of Tekamah, who died Monday, November 13, 1989 at St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. Rev. Marion H. Knoell officiated. Burial was in the Tekamah Cemetery with Military Graveside honors conducted by the Tekamah V.F.W. and American Legion Posts.

Bud was born on May 4, 1918 at Tekamah to Lewis Thomas and Violet C. (Moore) Dorn. He married Amy Patterson on January 31, 1942 at Fresno, California.

Bud served in the United States Army during World War II in England, France and Germany. He farmed near Tekamah most of his life.

He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3307 of Tekamah and the International Order of Odd Fellows Lodge at Tekamah. Bud was also a longtime member of the United Methodist Church at Tekamah.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, Lucas, one brother, John Dorn and one sister in infancy.

Survivors include his wife, Amy M. Dorn of Tekamah; four daughters, Linda Harmer of Tekamah, Jeanne Halsey of Blair, Barbara L. Briggs of Herman and Pamela Been of Grand Island; one son, Thomas W. Dorn of O’Neill; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandson; five sisters, Margaret Hansen and Elaine Warren, both of Blair, Jean Thompson of Raynham, Massachusetts, Violet Davis of Marshfield, Missouri, and Virginia Simpson of Craig; and two brothers, George Dorn of Grand Island and Bill Dorn of National City, California.
