James Amon McIntyre, 71

Funeral services for James Amon McIntyre, age 71, of Blair will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 19 at the Campbell Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Spring Valley Cemetery at Moorhead, Iowa.

James was born on May 24, 1917 at Moorhead, Iowa to Earl and Ada Mann McIntyre. He attended school in Ralston and graduated from South High School in Omaha. He entered the service in 1937 and after being discharged he married Evelyn Smith at Papillion on October 1, 1938.

He farmed in Griswald, Iowa, and Spalding and Greeley, Nebraska before moving to California in 1951. He moved to Portland, Oregon in 1966 and 1971 moved to Blair where he resided until his death April 15, 1989. James was a member of the Blair Fraternal Order of Eagles.

He is survived by his wife Evelyn, three sons, Jack L. McIntyre of Friday Harbor, Washington; James A. McIntyre, of Siesta Key, Florida; Jerry E. McIntyre, Portland, Oregon; and two daughters Mrs. Theodore (Eileen) Renner, Citrus Heights, California; and Nancy McIntyre of Blair. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; ten brothers and sisters; Veryle and Harry McIntyre, Ralston, Nebraska; Donald, Mulvane, Kansas; Keith, Greeley, Colorado; Gerald, Cupertino, California; Kenneth, of California; Mildren Mechenic, Mariam, Kansas; Mrs. Verlyn (Hazel) Barnes, Shattuck, Oklahoma; Mrs. Lyle (Lillian) Headley, Lodi, California; and Sally Push of Ft. Calhoun.

James was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
