Kelsa McKain Funeral Is Held Saturday

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 24, at the first Baptist Church in Tekamah for Kelsa McKain, Sr. Rev. Gail Twining officiated.

Pallbearers were Marvin McClellan, Jerry Johnson, Herbert Uhing, Otto Meyer, Floyd Moore and John Tipton. Music was provided by Richard Nelsen and Mrs. Stewart Kindler.

Interment was at Tekamah Cemetery.

Kelsa McKain was born August 5, 1888, at Waymansville, Ind., to Hezekiah and Ann Hupp McKain. He died in Blair June 22 at the age of 89.

He was united in marriage to Ethel Seymour on October 2, 1915. The couple had five children. They had lived on several farms in Burt County until 1976 when they moved to Tekamah.

Survivors include his wife Ethel; two daughters, Mrs. Vern (Marie) Carver of Renton, Wash., and Mrs. Wilbur (Frances) Tranmer of Tekamah; and three sons, Edward of Blair, Donald of Omaha and Kelsa, Jr., of Craig.

Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and a brother and sister in Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, two sisters and one granddaughter.
