Mike Hansen, 66, of Fort Calhoun, died Tuesday, March 4, 2014, in Wheat Ridge, Colo.

Services are 7 p.m. Monday at Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home in Fort Calhoun. Inurnment is private. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mike Hansen was born Feb. 19, 1948, in Omaha, to Darrell Louis Hansen and Frances Jean (Simet) Hansen. On July 3, 1967, he married Julie Ann Furey in Omaha.

He was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend.

He had a passion for coaching baseball and football for many years. He was an active member of the Omaha Racing Pigeon Association throughout his adulthood.

Most recently, he enjoyed spending time in his workshop creating special pieces or family and friends. Mike also lived for “the hunt” on a good deal when on his next adventure for antiques and hot rods.

He is survived by his wife, Julie Hansen of Fort Calhoun; son Brian (Angela) Hansen of Omaha; brothers: Gary Hansen of Omaha and Bruce (Sharon) Hansen of Bellevue; sister Becky (Jim) Bishop of Bellevue; grandchildren: Hailey Marie, Christopher Michael and Mackenzie Paige; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Hansen family or the Jeanette Hunt Blair Animal Shelter.
