Helen Meister, 87

Helen Meister, 87, of Carroll, Iowa, who has relatives in Blair, died Sunday, November 29, 1998, at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll.

Services were Wednesday, Dec. 2, at St. Elizabeth Seton Church in Glidden, Iowa, with Father Paul Kelly and Father Merlin Schrad officiating.

Burial was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.

Pallbearers were Kenny Venner, Jerry Koester, Roger Bellinghausen, Gene Venner, Bob Venner and Ron Venner.

Helen Venner was born Sept. 7, 1911, at Breda, Iowa, to John and Maggie (Rutten) Venner.

She grew up in the Breda and Maple River communities and attended St. Bernard Schools.

On Jan. 12, 1938, she was married to Everett Meister at St. Francis Church in Maple River.

The couple lived in Breda and then moved to Manning, Iowa.

In 1945, they moved to their home on the west edge of Glidden.

Mrs. Meister was a homemaker and bookkeeper for the family business.

She moved to Orchard View Apartments in 1992 and in March of 1998, moved to St. Anthony Nursing Home.

She was a member of St. Elizabeth Seton Parish, the Parish Ladies Guild and was a parish representative for the D.C.C.W. She was a farmer member of the Kuemper Parents Club.

She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Mary Ann and Andrew Hoefler of Blair and Norma and Stephen L. Baumhover of Lake Panorama, Iowa; grandchildren, Susan Coster, and her husband, Ben, Julianne and Francine Hoefler, Kristi Fiala and her husband, Chris, Stephen B. Baumhover and his wife, Judy, Angie Campbell and her husband, Chuck; great grandchildren, Kelsey and Kyle Fiala and Megan Campbell; five brothers and their wives, Lawrence Venner of Carroll, Iowa, Tony and Dorothy Venner of Manning, Iowa, Ed and Jeanette Venner of Manning, Iowa, Albin and Rita Venner of Carroll, Iowa, Cyril and Anita Venner of Arcadia, Iowa; two sisters, Florence Bellinghausen of Laurens, Iowa, and Dorothy Bellinghausen, and her husband, Alvin of Maple River, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Everett Meister in 1992; two brothers, Clarence and Andrew Venner and two sisters, Marie Redig and Rita Koester.
